Maximizing Space Efficiency in Indoor MV Switchgear
(2.4kV – 38kV, NEMA 1)
Space optimization for indoor medium voltage (MV) switchgear, specifically for 2.4 kV to 38 kV applications compliant with NEMA 1 standards, is achieved through an integrated design and operational philosophy. This approach focuses on minimizing the equipment’s physical footprint while maintaining safety, reliability, and functionality.

-
Front-Access, Wall-Mounted Design: Eliminates the need for rear service clearances, enabling direct wall installation. Cable entry/exit is from the bottom (Optional top entry).
-
Draw-Out Vacuum Circuit Breakers (VCBs): Utilizes compact VCBs, which are inherently smaller. Their draw-out design (e.g., per IEEE C37.20.2 for Metal-Clad Switchgear) enables maintenance and replacement from the front.
-
Draw-Out Instrument Transformer Compartments: Incorporates dedicated, front-accessible, draw-out compartments for Potential Transformers (PTs), for both bus and line-side connections. This design, consistent with the modularity requirements of IEEE C37.20.2, facilitates safe, efficient testing and replacement without requiring rear access or extensive de-energization.
